The big day has finally arrived. Your bike is all shiny, your outfit looks fantastic and you are ready. Before you head on down to Tempe just a couple of things to keep in mind.
You must be registered by now—you cannot do this on the day. If you have never attended a Mardi Gras Parade before it is compulsory to do the Virgin’s Ride so we know you are prepared – if you did not attend the ride or contact a committee member you may not be allowed to ride on the day. Make sure you have read your Ride Rules (& follow them) and make sure you have your driver’s licence and bike registration up to date and on you.
You must be at Tempe by 3pm or you will not be in the parade—no ifs, ands or buts. You still need to wear proper PPE from Tempe to the start point and remember we still need to follow NSW Road Rules so no pillions if you are on your L or P lates. Always listen to your Ride Leaders – they are there to ensure that the whole things runs smoothly and everybody makes it to the end safely.
There will be a coffee van and an ice-cream truck at Tempe however remember to bring a couple of bottles of water to make sure you stay hydrated. Also bring along some sun screen as we can be standing around for some time both at Tempe and Moore Park. And I hate to say this but it may rain so be prepared.
Finally don’t forget that this is your chance to SAY SOMETHING so make up a sign or find some way to let the hundreds of thousands of people watching you know how you feel.
